KEYSTONE HEIGHTS—A Clay County Sheriff’s Office official said the agency’s new gun range between Camp Blanding and Middleburg is now open to deputies and will soon be available to the public.
Gun Range Manager Michael Davidson said that beginning in October, the public may use the facility on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Law enforcement will have it Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays,” he said.
Davidson said a ribbon cutting is scheduled for Sept. 29, followed by an open house on Sept. 30.
“We won’t be shooting that day, but have people come and look at the facility (and) see if we can get some members signed up.”
The manager said the facility offers yearly memberships to Clay County residents and nonresidents in addition to daily use fees.
However, any sworn law enforcement officer may use the range free of charge.
