Keystone Heights High School’s cross-country teams competed in the Sept. 23 Suwannee Invitational, with Olivia Griffin running her way to a fourth-place finish, while the boys team placed fourth out of nine teams.
Griffin, competing in a field of 81 individuals, had a time of 20:6, finishing behind Wakulla’s Isabella Laughton (19:23), Branford’s Anna Moore (19:51) and Florida High’s Leah Boutwell (20:04).
The Indians’ girls team had an additional two runners place in the top half of the field — Cali Chamberlain, who had a 35th-place time of 25:10, and Melody Tyre, who had a 41st-place time of 25:10.
Also competing for KHHS were Ella Hutchins (26:51), Brook Graudons (27:09), Kirsten Lavin (28:21), Madilyn Miller (28:44), Schiley Starling (30:23) and Clara Beth Robinson (33:05).
Elyn Reddish, representing Keystone Running Club, had a time of 27:06.
In the girls team standings, Keystone was sixth out of nine.
The boys team was led by Tyler Griffin, who placed sixth out of 97 with a time of 17:31, while Ryder Thomas just missed a top-10 finish, placing 11th with a time of 17:50.
Keystone’s team score of 94 left the Indians trailing Columbia by 10 points. Suwannee took first with 54 points, followed by Florida High, which had 78 points.
Besides Griffin and Thomas, six runners placed in the top half of the field — Anthony Peak with a 23rd-place time of 19:05, Hunter Sheppard with a 25th-place time of 19:08, Jaden Park with a 29th-place time of 19:35, Bryce Huntley with a 34th-place time of 19:51, Jason Parales with a 40th-place time of 20:24 and Kipton Spence with a 48th-place time of 20:42.
The following also ran: Josiah Durrenberger (22:06), Mason Gray (23:26), Oliver Miller (23:52), Hunter Gray (24:10) and Eli Rabe (25:56).
