Bradford High School’s volleyball team dropped two straight sets in losing to second seed Interlachen 3-2 (13-25, 25-21, 21-25, 26-24, 15-13) in the semifinals of the District 3-3A tournament on Oct. 17 in Starke.
The third seed Tornadoes (6-11) led 17-10 in the first set before scoring six straight points with Rylie Blankenship serving, getting two blocks and a kill from Ar’Nayshia Griffin and. Blankenship also had an ace to help put Bradford just two points away from winning the set.
Interlachen (15-4) built a 14-4 lead en route to winning the second set by just four points.
Bradford trailed at one point in the third set, but scored four straight points with Griffin serving to go up 14-13. Ajiyah Jackson had a kill during that span, while Kencie Wainwright tipped the ball over the net for another point.
Reagan Harris had a kill late in the set to help the Tornadoes take a 2-1 lead.
Harris and Harli Mosley had kills late in the fourth set, but the Rams were able to win on a Bradford error.
A Jackson kill forced side-out, setting up Blankenship to serve with the Tornadoes trailing 14-13 in the fifth set. Interlachen recorded a kill to end the match.
Raelynn Moore had 38 assists, with Jackson recording nine kills. Griffin and Mosley each had eight kills, while Harris had seven. Wainwright added five kills.
Blankenship had 38 digs, while Kinley Burkhalter and Harris had 19 and 17, respectively. Kendell Shanks added 10 digs.
Griffin led the team in blocks with seven, while Jackson had four.
Moore had four service aces, while Blankenship and Griffin each had two.
