County Judge D. Tatum Davis sentenced a 46-year-old Hampton man to 12 months’ probation for throwing a rock at a convenience store near the defendant’s home.
During his first appearance after being arrested for criminal mischief with between $200 and $1,000 in property damage on October 23, Tommy Morris pleaded to the charge.
According to court papers, the defendant was arrested for throwing a rock from a bicycle at the front glass of the Hampton Sunoco and shattering the pane. Deputies located the defendant through store surveillance video, canvassing the area, and talking to witnesses. In an arrest report, Bradford Deputy Mark Juen wrote that Morris admitted throwing the rock but claimed he did not break the window.
