Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook has amassed over $141,000 in campaign contributions for the 2024 election cycle, nearly twice that of the second-place finisher, School Superintendent David Broskie.

Cook is also the only candidate who faces opposition thus far in the cycle. Former Sheriff Daryl Daniels filed to get his old job back, and Keystone Heights resident Matthew O’Berry has filed to seek the office. However, neither of the incumbent’s opponents have reported any campaign contributions.

Other candidates who have filed for county office include Clerk of Court Tara S. Green, who has raised $8,150, Property Appraiser Tracy Scott Drake, who reported $22,270 in contributions, and Broskie, who has taken in $71,925.

Tax Collector Diane Hutchings has filed for re-election but has reported no contributions, and Supervisor of Elections Chris Chambless has $44,874 in donations.

County Commissioner District 1 candidate John Sgromolo has collected $4,465, District 3 Commissioner Jim Renninger has accepted $3,800 in funds, District 5 Commissioner Kristen Burke has reported $24,101 in receipts, and School Board District 3 Member Beth Clark has taken in $4,464.
