The retired adjutant general of the Florida National Guard is the newest Keystone Heights Rotary Club member.

Maj. Gen. James O. Eifert relinquished command of the 12,000-member force in April as he retired following over four decades of military service and four years as the state’s highest-ranking military official.

During Eifert’s tenure, the Florida National Guard was activated 18 times, marking its highest operational tempo since World War II.

Eifert is a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate and Harvard Kennedy School graduate.

Scott Kornegay, Rotary District 6970’s area governor for Area 9, inducted the new member into the club during the civic group’s December 6 meeting.
