Four players scored in double figures to help the Union County High School boys basketball defeat visiting Keystone Heights 65-60 on Dec. 21.
The Tigers (5-4) held a 14-point lead at the half, but Keystone was able to take a 41-39 lead after outscoring Union 27-11 in the third quarter.
Johnte Nichols scored a game-high 17 points for the Tigers, who also got 14 points from Gavin Jenkins, 13 points from Thomas Williams and 13 points from Jayden Jenkins.
Jeppson Dang and Eric Lasseter chipped in seven and two points, respectively, for Union.
Jayden Jenkins and Gavin Jenkins grabbed nine and eight rebounds, respectively, with Gavin Jenkins also recording seven steals and four assists.
Dang also had four assists, while Nichols had four steals.
The Indians (3-7) were led by Darion Grady’s 14 points and Gregory Pelham’s 10 points. Michael Bruzzese and Garrison Teague each scored seven points, while Cartez Daniels, Bryant Kubisak and Zane Leger each added four points.
Keystone also got three points each from Connor Guy and Bryce Hollingsworth and one point from Andru Siemer.
It was the second straight win for Union, which entered the game off a 54-45 win over visiting Dixie County on Dec. 19.
Gavin Jenkins had 23 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, five blocks and three assists.
Nichols scored 13 points and added five rebounds and three assists.
Cam Paytee, who scored four points, also had three assists, while Jayden Jenkins, who had eight points, grabbed six rebounds.
The Tigers also four points from Williams and two points from Deonte Jones.
Union returns to action with a road game against Hamilton County on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers then travel to play Crescent City on Friday, Jan. 5, at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to play Baldwin on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
