STARKE—A 25-year-old Starke man was sentenced to 6 months’ probation after pleading to grabbing a garden hose from a Walmart shelf and then asking for a refund on the item.
I’van Tyrese Sargeant pleaded to petit theft.
According to an arrest report, a store loss prevention officer told Starke police that the defendant entered the business with a $64 receipt for a garden hose, walked to the retailer’s home and garden section, and obtained a hose priced at the same amount. He then walked to customer service and requested a cash refund for the hose he grabbed off the shelf.
