No interest in old Pizza Hut, Brooker shop

Bradford County Manager Scott Kornegay told the board of county commissioners that he has received no inquiries from potential buyers for the county’s North Temple Avenue retail building that used to house a Pizza Hut. There were also no takers for a Charlotte Avenue property in Brooker that formally housed a repair shop.

At the beginning of November, commissioners instructed the county manager to list both parcels on GovDeals.com. The county had previously used the website to sell surplus equipment, but this is the first time it has used the site to sell real estate.

While discussing the lack of response for the two properties, commissioners rejected one alternative Kornegay mentioned: lowering the asking price of the parcels. They did, however, endorse another alternative, listing the properties on a second website: Auctions.com.

Both Chris Dougherty and Kenny Thompson said most organizations slow down their asset acquisitions at the year’s end, which may be a contributing factor to the lack of response.

Commissioners told Kornegay to list the parcels on the second website and return to them in two months with an update.
