Thomas Williams scored 20 points, while Jayden Jenkins came close to posting a double-double in a 55-53 win for the Union County High School boys basketball team at Crescent City on Jan. 5.
Jenkins finished with nine points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, who won their fourth game in a row.
Johnte Nichols had 10 points and seven assists, while Gavin Jenkins scored eight points. Deonte Jones and Cam Paytee each scored three points, with Paytee also adding four assists and three steals.
Blake McCoy scored two points.
The Tigers (7-4) entered the game off a 71-30 win at Hamilton County on Jan. 4. Union outscored the Trojans 24-3 in the second and third quarters.
Williams scored 28 points, while the Tigers also got 16 from Jayden Jenkins, 13 from Gavin Jenkins, eight from McCoy, four from Jones and two from Nichols.
McCoy and Jayden Jenkins grabbed 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Nichols had nine, while Gavin Jenkins had seven.
Nichols and Gavin Jenkins each recorded five assists, while Williams led the team in steals with eight.
Union’s scheduled home game against Baldwin on Jan. 6 didn’t take place due to Baldwin not showing up.
The Tigers host Trenton on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Union then hosts Baker County on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m.
Union plays at home again on Tuesday, Jan. 16, against Interlachen at 7:30 p.m.
