Iana Patterson brought her vision of reaching rural communities to life with the grand opening of Bradford Community Partners Health and Wellness Hub in Lawtey. The hub is one of three new resource locations that will be hosting regular events for small communities.
Patterson hopes the community will spread the word and encourage citizens to take advantage of the resources that are conveniently coming to their neighborhood. Many vendors participated in the event, which was held on Dec. 14 in the Lawtey recreation building.
Services represented will vary each month, but some in attendance were the Florida Department of Health, UF Mobile Health, National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Elder Options, Restoring U Matters, and others. These services are being brought to local neighborhoods to help people gain access to advice and opportunities, not only in regards to health, but also with services from the Florida Department of Children and Families, which provides in-person answers and resources.
The Lawtey hub will be the third Thursday of each month. Other resource hubs are located in Starke at the RJE School the first and third Thursday of each month and in Hampton at the Arc of Bradford on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
