STARKE—Gainesville police arrested a 30-year-old Bradford County woman after accusing her of leaving her child alone in her car for six hours.
According to the Independent Florida Alligator, Darneshia Stephens, 30, was arrested at the Parklands Rehabilitation Care Center in Gainesville, where she works.
According to the report, a witness spotted the child in the nursing home’s parking lot and went inside to find the vehicle’s owner.
The witness went back to the parking lot to find the baby covered in feces with pill bottles within reach.
Stephens told officers she thought the baby was okay because she periodically checked on the child throughout the day and left toys and food in the vehicle. She added that she usually takes the child to daycare but could not on the day of the incident.
