The start was slow, but the finish was not.

Keystone Heights High School, after falling behind, scored nine goals and enacting the mercy rule in defeating Interlachen 9-1 in the quarterfinals of the District 4-3A boys soccer tournament on Jan. 24 in Williston.

The second seed Indians (13-2-2) will play third seed Williston (12-6-1) in a semifinal match on Monday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. in Williston.

Noah Jaramillo came off the bench and scored four goals in the quarterfinal win, which earned him his team’s player-of-the-game honors.

Aaron Wiley added three goals for the Indians, who also got one goal each from Luke Brunt and A.J. Nilsen.

Nilsen led the team in assists with three, while Bryce Huntley and Sammy Wacha each had two.

Interlachen, the seventh seed, finished its season with a 7-10-1 record.

If Keystone wins its semifinal match, it will play top seed P.K. Yonge (17-2) or fifth seed Trinity Catholic (6-5-2) for the championship on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. in Williston.

The Indians are attempting to play for a district title for the first time since 2020.
