KHHS boys tennis team off to 2-0 start with win over BHS

Keystone Heights High School improved to 2-0 in boys tennis with a 6-1 win over host Bradford on Feb. 13.

The Indians’ only loss came at number-two singles, with Bradford’s Rowan Butler taking an 8-6 win over Evan Booth.

Keystone’s Dalton Moore won 8-4 over Calum Butler at number-one singles, while Ethan Teague defeated the Tornadoes’ Nikolas Vargas 8-0 at the number-three slot.

Will Begue and Beckett Capper each earned 8-1 wins for Keystone, with Begue defeating James Hudgens at the number-four slot and Capper defeating Jack Hendrix at the number-five slot.

Moore and Booth teamed up at number-one doubles to defeat Butler and Butler 8-5, while the Keystone team of Teague and Curran Capper defeated Hudgens and Vargas 8-8 (7-3).

The two teams will play each other again on Monday, Feb. 26, in Keystone at 3:45 p.m.

Prior to that, the Indians will host Eastside on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 3:30 p.m. Keystone will travel to play Santa Fe on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 3:30 p.m.

Bradford (0-2) hosts West Nassau on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 3:30 p.m. and will host Ridgeview on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m.
