BHS girls get 1 win, 1 runner-up finish at Bold City Sprinters

Bradford High School’s Kendell Shanks won one event and helped the 4x100m relay team to a second-place finish at the Feb. 21 Bold City Sprinters event, hosted by Jacksonville’s KIPP Bold City High School.

Shanks won the 60m race with a time of 8.49 seconds. The Tornadoes also got a fifth-place finish from Jordynn Littles (8.79) and a 10th-place finish from Izarriya Desue (8.98).

The team of Desue, Littles, Shanks and Diamond Ferguson ran a second-place time of 55.07 in the 4x100m relay. Bradford also had a second team competing, with Ja’Myrah Newsome, Loundreikwa Hunter, She’maria Hankerson and Melissa Harding running a sixth-place time of 1:02.

Shanks also had one of three seventh-place finishes for the girls team, running the 100m in 13.61.

Kaelyn Booker was seventh in the 400m with a time of 1:07, while Isabella Bunch was seventh in the 800m with a time of 3:15.

Other BHS girls results were: 60m — Harding 9.46; 100m — Littles 14.17, Desue 14.38, Harding 15.45; 200m — Harding 32.54; and 400m Lysa McKenzie 1:35.

The boys team got a third-place finish from Jaleel Easley, who ran the 400m in 54.49. Easley also had a seventh-place finish in the 200m with a time of 24.23.

BHS also had the following boys results: 100m — Elijah Lawrence 11.94, Justin Hall 12.17, Gino Addison 12.17, Jordan Barton 12.54; 200m — Lawrence 27.48; 400m — Barton 58.18; and 800m — Krystian Harris 2:41, Hayden Starling 2:58.
