KHHS girls defeat Palatka 6-1 in tennis

Keystone Heights High School swept doubles play and won all but one singles match in a 6-1 girls tennis win at Palatka on Feb. 26.

Shaylyn Williams and Kadence Carlton teamed up for a 9-7 win at number-one doubles, while the team of Whitnee Buchanan and Reagan Feldpausch won 8-1.

Williams lost 8-5 at number-one singles, but the Indians won the rest of the matches. Buchanan and Alyssa Lee won 8-5 at the number-two and number-four spots. Feldpausch won 8-1 at number two, while Joann Mason won 8-3 at the five spot.

Keystone won its third straight match to improve to 3-2, while the boys team dropped its first match on Feb. 22, losing 7-0 to visiting Eastside. The closest matches for the Indians (2-1) were an 8-5 loss by the doubles team of Dalton Moore and Ethan Teague and a pair of 8-4 singles losses by Teague and Evan Booth.

The girls team hosts Santa Fe on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 4 p.m., while the boys team will travel to play Santa Fe at 3:30 p.m.

Both teams will travel to play Ridgeview on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 3 p.m.

The girls team will host Middleburg on Tuesday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m.
