KHHS softball team falls 12-0 to undefeated Class 4A Eustis

Keystone Heights High School’s softball team failed to get a hit off pitchers Skyler Cloud and Carson Roden in a 12-0, six-inning loss to Class 4A Eustis on March 7 in Keystone.

The Panthers were held to one unearned run and two hits in the first three innings by Keystone starting pitcher Caitlin Frampton before scoring 11 runs in the final three innings.

Keystone (4-2) entered the game off a 5-4 win at Palatka on March 5. Alaina Kinsall’s RBI double in the top of the sixth was the difference.

Delia Johnson and Frampton went 2 for 2 and 2 for 3, respectively, while Bella Cumbo and Amber Wagner each had one RBI. Cumbo batted in her run as part of a three-run second, while Wagner drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth to put the Indians ahead 4-3.

Kadence Massey pitched a complete game, giving up no earned runs, eight hits and two walks. She struck out six.

The Indians return to action with a road game against Santa Fe on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. They then travel to play Clay on Friday, March 22, at 7 p.m. before returning home to play Bradford on Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m.

Keystone travels to play Oakleaf on Tuesday, March 26, at 7 p.m.
