Bradford High School’s baseball team fell behind 7-0 after the first two innings in a 9-4 loss at Baker County on March 8.
All of the Tornadoes’ runs occurred in the sixth. Denver Hudson drove in one on a ground out, while Mattox Burgin drew a bases-loaded walk. A passed ball and an error allowed two runs to score.
Jerry Baxter entered the game in the second and pitched four innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk.
Hudson gave up no hits in pitching the final inning.
Bradford (3-2) entered the game off a 13-3, five-inning win over visiting Fort White on March 7.
Hudson and Ryder Thompson each hit a double to drive in a combined three runs in a four-run first.
Luke Stucky, who had an RBI single in the first, was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run as part of a three-run second.
Burgin and Thompson each drove in a run in the second as well.
Thompson finished 3 for 4 with five RBI, while Stucky was 2 for 3 with three RBI.
Ryland Rike hit a double and drove in two runs, while Burgin and Hudson finished with one RBI each.
Cason Pilcher got the start on the mound, giving up no runs and two hits through three innings. He struck out five.
The Tornadoes host Middleburg on Tuesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. and Interlachen on Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. Bradford travels to play Keystone Heights on Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. before returning home to play P.K. Yonge on Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m.
