Hamilton, Wainwright and Ward show grand champs in steer, heifer shows

Jordan Hamilton exhibited the grand-champion steer. It sold for $11 per pound at the March 8 auction. Buyers were Williams Jewelry, DLP Bank, Pipeline Constructors, Teal Tile and Carpet, A&D Recovery, Hamilton Environmental, Phillip McDonald Plumbing, Ward Timber, Hamilton Custom Services, Pritchett Trucking Inc., Sheffield Pest Control, Anderson Columbia, Nextran, Collins Lawn Care, Suburban Carpet Cleaners, Roberts Companies and Sunshine 2 Energy.

Jordan Hamilton exhibited the grand champion in the March 6 Bradford-Union Youth Cattle steer show at the Bradford Agricultural Fair, while Kate Wainwright exhibited the grand champion commercial heifer in the March 7 breed show.

Wainwright’s animal also earned the supreme championship.

The March 7 show also consisted of American Influence Brahmans, with Ansley Ward earning the grand championship.

Hamilton’s 1,289-pound animal sold for $11 per pound at the March 8 auction. Buyers were Williams Jewelry, DLP Bank, Pipeline Constructors, Teal Tile and Carpet, A&D Recovery, Hamilton Environmental, Phillip McDonald Plumbing, Ward Timber, Hamilton Custom Services, Pritchett Trucking Inc., Sheffield Pest Control, Anderson Columbia, Nextran, Collins Lawn Care, Suburban Carpet Cleaners, Roberts Companies and Sunshine 2 Energy.

The reserve grand champion at the steer show was awarded to Bailey Varnes. Her 1,337-pound animal, which was the homegrown grand champion, sold for $10 per pound to Pritchett Trucking, Nextran, Ho-Bo Tractor, Teal Tile and Carpet, Hamilton Custom Services, Hamilton Environmental and Roberts Companies.

Berkley Reddish exhibited the homegrown reserve grand-champion steer, which placed fifth overall. The 1,092-pound animal sold for $9 per pound to Steve Carter, Beard Equipment, M&S Fertilizer and Farm Inc., Carlton Contracting, Revelation Church of Lawtey, Falstreaux Heating and Air, Thomas Farm and Lumber, Crystal Tractor of Starke, Durrance Pump and Well Drilling, Pipeline Constructors, Pritchett Trucking, M&R Construction, Jackson Building Supply, West Fraser, Michael Moore Construction, Hamilton Custom Services, Bradford County Telegraph, ETM Inc., Eric Reddish Mosquito Free Yard and Justin and Jessica McElhenny.

The third-overall placer at the steer show was exhibited by Huck Alvarez, while Reese Wainwright’s steer earned fourth overall.

In the senior division of the steer showmanship contest, Reese Wainwright placed first, followed by Shayna Durrance and Jordan Hamilton.

Ansley Ward took first in intermediate showmanship, while Maddison Lee and Chayten Elixson were second and third, respectively.

Luke Alvarez and Huck Alvarez were first and second, respectively, in junior showmanship. Garrett Lee placed third.

Kate Wainwright exhibited the grand champion/supreme champion commercial heifer. It’s her second straight year earning the grand championship after exhibiting the reserve grand champion in 2022.

Commercial heifers

The reserve grand-champion commercial heifer that placed behind Kate Wainwright was exhibited by Regan Broome. The animal also earned her the homegrown grand championship.

Jordan Hamilton had the third-place overall heifer, which was the homegrown reserve grand champion.

Koy Hartley and Reese Wainwright had the fourth and fifth overall heifers, respectively.

The heifer showmanship competition saw Kate Wainwright earn first place in the senior division. She finished ahead of Hamilton and Sydney Box, who were second and third, respectively.

Ansley Ward and Adaleigh Wainwright were first and second, respectively, in the intermediate division. Nicholas Ward placed third.

Luke Alvarez was awarded first place in junior showmanship, while Shawn Ward was second.

 

American Influence

Adaleigh Wainwright earned the reserve grand championship in the American Influence show, finishing behind Ansley Ward.

Ward exhibited multiple American Influence animals, with two taking the third- and fourth-place overall awards.

Kelsey Reddish had an animal that earned fifth overall.

Ansley Ward exhibited the grand champion in the American Influence show. She had an animal earn third place last year.
