The 2024 Union County Livestock Association Fair ended Saturday, March 16 with the livestock auctions, but it is now down in the record books as a successful event conducted in the interest of supporting youth in agriculture in the county.
Events began Wed., March 13 with the Swine Show. Sixty-six swine were displayed in the show ring by FFA and 4-H members in eight classes. Swine varied in weight from 242-292 pounds. The event was judged by Wyatt Woff. Exhibitors not only showed their animals to be judged but also competed in showmanship, and with their 4-H and FFA record books.

Show award winners were as follows: Grand Champion – Wyatt Barber; Reserve Grand Champion – Jamie-Lynn Courson; Third Overall – Addisyn Worrell; Fourth Overall – Hagen Thomas; Fifth Overall – Latoya Hampton; Home Grown Grand Champion – Wyatt Barber; Home Grown Reserve Grand Champion – Latoya Hampton and Home Grown Champion Breeder – Thompson Show Pigs.
4-H Record Book winners for swine were: First Place Junior – Everett Emery; Second Place Junior – Kylee Thomas; Third Place Junior – Clay Emery; First Place Intermediate – Emmy Croft; Second Place Intermediate – Latoya Hampton; Third Place Intermediate – Naomi Croft; First Place Senior – Cadence Collins; Second Place Senior – Celia Elixson and Third Place Senior – Cuyler Collins.

FFA Record Book winners for swine were: First Place Jr. Chapter – Jayden Johnson; Second Place Jr. Chapter – Wyatt Wilson; Third Place Jr. Chapter – Brylee Elixson; First Place Sr. Chapter – Peyton Kilgore; Second Place Sr. Chapter – Ava Westmoreland and Third Place Sr. Chapter – Kane Middleton.
Swine Showmanship Awards were: First Place Junior – Raylan Dyal; Second Place Junior – Tinley Moates; Third Place Junior – Clay Emery; First Place Intermediate – Jamie Lynn Courson; Second Place Intermediate – Brylee Elixson; Third Place Intermediate – Paisley Schitt-Theus; First Place Senior – Bayley Staier; Second Place Senior – Joseph Harris and Third Place Senior – Brailyn Rose. Joseph Haris took home honors as Reserve Champion Showman, Bayley Staier took Champion Showman honors and Brailyn Rosen was Third Place Showman.

In the Beef Breed Show there were 34 exhibitors in eight classes, ranging in weight from 430-1610 pounds. The event was judged by Lynn Davis. Show award winners were: Grand Champion Heifer – Regan Broome; Reserve Grand Champion – Kody Stalnaker; Third Overall Heifer – Sydney Box; Fourth Overall Heifer – Addisyn Worrell; Fifth Overall Heifer – Savannah Miller; Homegrown Grand Champion – Regan Broome; Homegrown Reserve Grand Champion – Sydney Box and Home Grown Champion Breeder – Whitehead Family Cattle.
4-H Record Book winners for the Breed Show were: First Place Junior – Braxton Johnson; Second Place Junior – Cain Addison; Third Place Junior – Lawson Roddenberry; First Place Intermediate – Pamela Dobbs; Second Place Intermediate – Kalyn Reynolds and Third Intermediate – Cole Welch.

FFA Record Book winners were: First Place Jr. Chapter – Cain Addison; Second Place Jr. Chapter – Addyson Kelley; First Place Senior Chapter – Ryleigh Rhodon; Second Place Senior Chapter – Kendyl Brannen and Third Place Sr. Chapter – Macie Wilson.
Breed Showmanship winners were: First Place Junior – Cain Addison; Second Place Junior – Braxton Johnson; Third Place Junior – Brentley Blanton; First Place Intermediate – Rylee McDowall; Second Place Intermediate – Addyson Kelley; First Place Senior – Addisyn Worrell; Second Place Senior -Kody Stalnaker and Third Place Senior Jacee Box.

Forty steers were put on display in the Steer Show, ranging in weight from 1025-1465 pounds. The Event was judged by Lynn Davis.
Steer Show Awards were: Grand Champion Steer – Sydney Box; Reserve Grand Champion Steer – Cain Addison; Home Grown Grand Champion Steer – Paislee Jo Stalnaker; Home Grown Reserve Grand Champion Steer – Miley Wilson; Third Overall – Paislee Jo Stalnaker; Fourth Overall – Miley Wilson; Fifth Overall – Lawson Roddenberry; Home Grown Champion Breeder – Whitehead Family Cattle and Weight Gain Contest – Peyton Welch.

4-H Record Book winners were: First Place Junior – Lane Hartley; Second Place Junior – Braxton Johnson; Third Place Junior – Landon Douglas; First Place Intermediate – Farrah Elixson; Second Place Intermediate – Weston Daniel; Third Place Intermediate – Alayah Jefferson and First Place Senior – Marcus Jefferson.
FFA Record Book winners were: First Place Jr. Chapter – Paislee Jo Stalnaker; Second Place Jr. Chapter – Vivian Hunt; Third Place Jr. Chapter Addyson Kelley; First Place Sr. Chapter – Miley Wilson; Second Place Sr. Chapter – Macie Wilson and Third Place Sr. Chapter Brady Tetstone.

Steer Show Showmanship award winners were: First Place Junior – Vivian Hunt; Second Place Junior – Lawson Roddenberry; Third Place Junior – Lane Hartley; First Place Intermediate – Paislee Jo Stalnaker; Second Place Intermediate – Farrah Elixson; Third Place Intermediate – Alayah Jefferson; First Place Senior – Noah Williams, Second Place Senior – Savannah Miller and Third Place Senior – Blayne Hendricks.
There were a total of 46 goats shown in the Goat Show, representing five breeds plus crosses. The goat show was judged by Kyle Mendez.
Goat show award winners were: Supreme Overall Goat – Jolene Moore; Reserve Grand Champion Goat – Cadence Collins; Third Overall Goat – Kalli Kadlec; Meat Goat Division Champion – Jolene Moore; Dairy Goat Division Champion – Kalyn Reynolds; Wether Goat Division Champion – Jolene Moore and Dwarf Goat Division Champion – Jacee Box.
Showmanship Award winners were: First Place Junior – Kalli Kadlec; Second Place Junior – Charley Cox; Third Place Winner – Weston Daniel; First Place Intermediate – Jacee Box; Second Place Intermediate – Cuyler Collins; Third Place Intermediate – Callen Collins; First Place Senior – Jolene Moore; Second Place Senior – Cadence Collins and Third Place Senior – Sydney Box.

FFA Record Book Winners were: First Place Junior – Addyson Kelley; First Place Senior – Jolene Moore; Second Place Senior – Sydney Box and Third Place Senior – Cailynn Boggs. Cloverbud Record Book awards went to: Clairabelle Martin, Colt Williams, Kimber Williams, Shaw Daniel, Tinley DeNunzio, Wayne Hartley, Jace Hampton, Cadence Duniven and Wave Croft.
Rabbit Awards were Reserve Grand Champion Rabbit – Ethan Jerrels and Reserve Grand Champion Rabbit – Kaylie Parrish. Poultry Awards were Reserve Grand Champion Poultry – Reagan Douglas and Reserve Grand Champion Poultry – Dallas Williams.
UCLA Award winners were – Spirit of Agriculture Award in Memory of Mrs. Mary Virginia Williams – Blaine Hendricks; Workhorse Award in Memory of Mr. Canova Howard – Case Denison; Mike Rich Memorial Scholarship – Noah Williams and the Union County Livestock Association Scholarship – Kody Stalnaker.
Judges and other participants not mentioned above included: Poultry Show Judge – Danny Padgett; Show Announcer – Benji Bennett; Livestock Judging Official – Allison Tremble and Auctioneer – Daniel Jerrels. The Buyer’s Dinner was prepared by Nanette’s Wedding & Party Catering and Rentals and was sponsored by Farm Credit.
