Bradford High School’s baseball team dropped two more games after playing Keystone Heights (see related story) and is now in the midst of a three-game skid.
The Tornadoes, despite getting a 4-for-4 game from Mattox Burgin, lost 8-3 to visiting P.K. Yonge on March 20.
P.K. Yonge scored two runs in the top of the first, but Bradford answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Tornadoes got three straight singles from Ryland Rike, Luke Stucky and Burgin, with Rike scoring on Burgin’s hit. Stucky scored on a sascrifice fly by Ryder Thompson to even the score at 2-2.
The Blue Wave scored two runs in the second on an error and a passed ball.
Burgin and Thompson each had one RBI, as did Jeffrey Brugh, who went 2 for 3.
Bradford got extra-base hits from Brugh (triple) and Burgin (double).
The Tornadoes traveled to play Englewood on March 21, losing 4-1.
Bradford trailed 2-0 before Patrick Pendarvis’ two-out double in the fifth. That scored Rike, who reached on a single.
Pendarvis went 2 for 3, while Denver Hudson was 2 for 4.
Brugh hit a double.
Rike started on the mound, giving up three runs (two earned), seven hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. He had five strikeouts.
Pendarvis relieved Rike and pitched the rest of the way, allowing one run, one hit and one walk, while striking out two.
Bradford (5-6) will return to action with a road game against Parker on Tuesday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. The Tornadoes will travel to play Hilliard on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. and then host Union County on Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m.
