Bradford High School’s Elijah Kellum won two events and was runner-up in another at the District 3-2A track and field meet at Jacksonville’s Bolles on April 29.
The top four in each event earned the right to advance to the Region 1 meet, which will be held Tuesday, May 7, at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The field events begin at 11 a.m., while the running events begin at noon.
Kellum and fellow boys team member Jaleel Easly qualified in five events, with Bradford earning six regional berths in all on the boys side.
The girls team qualified in one event.
Kellum won the long jump with a distance of 21-11.75 and won the triple jump with a distance of 44-3.5. He was runner-up in the 100m with a time of 10.95.
Easley took third in the 400m with a time of 52.14 and was fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 20.27.
The boys 4x100m relay team of Branden Williams, Justin Hall, Trejan Tyson and Elijah Lawrence ran a second-place time of 44.77.
Bradford was third in the girls 4x100m relay, with Kaelyn Booker, Melissa Harding, Diamond Fergerson and Kendell Shanks teaming up to run a time of 52.91.
Booker just missed qualifying in the 200m and 100m hurdles, placing fifth in both. Her 200m time was 27.57, while her hurdles time was 19.4.
Lysa McKenzie was sixth in the long jump (12-1), while Fergerson and Shanks were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100m with times of 13.38 and 13.39.
Bradford was fourth out of seven in the boys team standings. Adding to their was Brayden Smyth, who was sixth in the long jump (18-8.5), Lawrence, who was eighth in the 200m (24.12), Williams, who was eighth in the 100m (11.45), and Jordan Barton, who was eighth in the 400m (55.76).
Other boys results were: 100m — Lawrence 11.5, Hall 12.07; 200m — Hall 24.31, Easley 24.79; 800m — Krystian Harris 2:30, Hayden Starling 2:48; and shot put — Parviele Lee 35-11.25.
Bradford also had the following girls results: 200m — Fergerson 28.6, Harding 31.34, Ja’Myrah Newsome 34.0; and 400m — Harding 1:12, Newsome 1:32.
