Elston Kussler took the oath of office for the Keystone Heights City Council before the council’s May 6 meeting.

Pastor Steven Klingler of Community Church swore in the new official, and Kussler’s grandson Aidan Rhodes held the Bible.

The 20-year Navy veteran retired as a senior chief petty officer and has lived in the city for three years.

Widely known as “Speedy,” Kussler replaces Steve Hart in Seat 5, who chose not to seek re-election.
