Methodist women award scholarships

The Starke Methodist Women awarded $500 scholarships to Chauncey Patterson and Maddie Miller Thompson.

At the annual Summer Salad Luncheon for the Starke Methodist Women, $500 scholarships were awarded to Chauncey Patterson and Maddie Miller Thompson.

Chauncey Patterson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Trent Patterson. He completed his high school program at the same time he completed his academic program at Santa Fe College. He is now planning on attending the University of Florida and majoring in computer sciences with an emphasis on artificial intelligence.

Maddie Thompson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Miller and the wife of Wyatt Thompson. She received her BA degree in psychology from Florida State University. Maddie is now enrolled in an accelerated graduate nursing program through the University of Florida and Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. She had the opportunity to work as a case manager with the Department of Health for AIDS patients and has indicated that she would possibly like to continue working in the infectious disease field in the future.

The Starke Methodist Women are extremely proud of these two young people as they continue their educational journey.
