Bradford takes top 7 spots in boys golf match vs. Union Co.

Charles Zink had two birdies, while Cody Spratlin had an eagle to lead the Bradford boys golf team in its Aug. 22 home match against Union County.

The Tornadoes took the top seven individual spots and finished with a team score of 174.

Union doesn’t have a full team, with just three players.

Zink was the medalist with a nine-hole score of 39, while Spratlin was second at 40. Each shot par on three holes.

Avery Burgin also shot par on three holes in finishing with a third-place score of 46.

Steven Carter and Matthew Stafford, who each made par on one hole, placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 49 and 50.

Tucker Griffis and Grayson Jennings finished with scores of 52 and 56, respectively, to place sixth and seventh.

The Tigers’ Gavin Kuhn and Patrick Maxwell finished tied for eighth, with each shooting a 61.

Brysen Tomlinson had a 10th-place score of 72.

It was the second match of the season for both Bradford and Union.

The Tornadoes hosted Branford and Trinity Christian on Aug. 20, with Trinity winning with a team score of 181.

Bradford finished two strokes behind the Conquerors, while Branford had a team score of 197.

Zink, who made par on four holes, shot a 42, finishing one stroke behind medalist Jack Gracyalny of Trinity.

Spratlin, who made par on three holes, finished in a tie for third with a score of 44, while Carter, who made par on two holes, shot an eighth-place score of 48.

Jennings, who made par on two holes, had a score of 49, which tied him for ninth.

Burgin and Griffis finished with scores of 54 and 56, respectively, while Stafford shot a 58.

Union opened its season on Aug. 20 also, hosting Lafayette and Taylor County at Lake City’s Quail Heights Country Club (the Tigers’ home course).

Kuhn finished in the top 10 with a 10th-place score of 62.

Maxwell and Tomlinson had scores of 64 and 74, respectively.

Lafayette and Taylor had full teams, with Lafayette taking first place with a team score of 162 — 44 strokes ahead of Taylor.

Bradford and Union played each other again this past Tuesday.

The Tornadoes will host Branford and Keystone Heights on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 3:30 p.m.

Union will play Branford at Quail Heights on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 3:30 p.m. and then take on First Christian at Alachua’s Turkey Creek Golf Course on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 3:30 p.m.
