KHHS girls get 1st win in golf

Aubrey Brooks was match medalist as the Keystone Heights High School girls golf team earned its first win of the season, defeating Oakleaf on Aug. 29 at Eagle Landing Golf Club in Orange Park.

The Indians (1-2) had a team score of 266 to Oakleaf’s 270.

Brooks shot a 57 to lead the field. She was eight strokes ahead of second-place finisher Emma White of Oakleaf.

Keystone’s Zoey Gill shot a third-place score of 66, while teammate Emily Cunningham was tied for sixth with a score of 71.

The Indians’ Jillian Huntley and Averi Hemphill each shot a 72 to tie for eighth.

Keystone plays Gainesville on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 3:30 p.m. at Gainesville’s Ironwood Golf Course and will take on Matanzas and Palatka on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 p.m. at Palatka Golf Club.
