The Lake Butler Middle School Advisory Council met for the first time this year on September 9.

Principal Marcie Tucker said she shared her goals for the year with the group and the school’s improvement plan.

“We shared our school data from last year and were excited to tell them that our school grade was a B,” Tucker said.  “We went over the reasons why it was a B.  Highlights included our civics. Our seventh-grade scores were great in math, reading and civics.”

The principal added that the school is focusing on fifth-grade English Language Arts and is looking for improvement in that area.

Tucker added that she asked the committee to support the school’s Red Ribbon Week at the end of October.

The school advisory committee meets six times a year, usually on the first Monday of each month except December.

“It’s a way that we can share with community members and people in the public all the good things that are going on at Lake Butler Middle School,” Tucker said.
