UCHS maintains top ranking in Rural Class

Nothing changed for Union County High School with the release of the latest Florida High School Athletic Association/MaxPreps football power rankings, with the Tigers still holding onto the top spot in the Rural Class.

Rankings, which take into account results and strength of schedule, are updated weekly and will be used to determine playoff qualifiers and seeding.

This is Union’s fifth straight week as the number-one Rural team. The Tigers improved to 8-0 after a 38-7 road win over Class 3A Hudson.

The Top 16 Rural Class teams at the end of the season qualify for the playoffs. Ranking behind Union in descending order are Hawthorne (6-1), Madison County (5-3), Pahokee (6-2), Chiefland (7-1), Jay (8-1), Cottondale (8-0), Aucilla Christian (9-0), Chipley (7-1), Fort White (5-3), Blountstown (6-2), Lafayette (5-4), Williston (4-4), Holmes County (5-4), Franklin County (6-3) and Branford (5-3).
