The Keystone Heights High School boys golf team will advance to regional play after earning the runner-up trophy at the District 5-1A tournament on Oct. 29 at Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida.
Keystone had a team score of 357, which left them trailing champion Oak Hall, which had a score of 339. The Indians, who’ll play in the Region 2 tournament on Monday, Nov. 4, at New Port Richey’s Seven Springs Golf and Country Club, finished six strokes ahead of third-place finisher Newberry.
Ty Mitzel led Keystone, finishing in a two-way tie for sixth with an 18-hole score of 83. He made par on nine holes.
Jacob Beach, who made par on five holes, shot an 88 to finish in a two-way tie for 10th.
Hunter Sheppard finished in a five-way tie for 14th with a score of 90. He had a birdie and made par on seven holes.
Will Begue, who finished in a two-way tie for 24th, had a score of 96, while Nate Bardier, who made par on three holes, shot a 32nd-place score of 105.
