Brannan will head Judiciary Committee

Recently reelected Rep. Chuck Brannan will head up the Florida House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.

Upon the announcement this week, Brannan released the following statement:

“I am humbled and honored to have the confidence of incoming House Speaker Daniel Perez and be selected for the House Leadership Team for 2024 – 2026. I am also excited for my new role as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee dealing with civil and criminal justice issues. With 30+ years in law enforcement as a former deputy U.S. marshal, deputy sheriff, and longtime chief investigator for the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, I have a unique perspective and practical experience in the workings of the court system. My life has literally been spent on the courthouse block in public service.

“This will be my fourth chairmanship since being elected to the legislature in 2018 having previously served as Gaming Regulation sub-chairman, Criminal Justice and Public Safety Policy sub-chairman, and Justice Appropriations sub-chairman.  I believe these last four years of subcommittee chairmanships in these areas have prepared me well for the role of overall Judiciary chair.

“There are 120 members of the Florida House and it is indeed humbling to be selected for this nine member House Leadership Team.  Since first running for the legislature in 2018, I promised my constituents I would be a leader in Tallahassee for them, not a back bencher. I pledge to continue to be out front for our constituents by building relationships with fellow House members, promoting sound Judiciary policy, continuing to make Florida a law and order state, putting aside reserves to pay down debt, balancing our budget, keeping our overall fiscal house in order, and also keeping our state and environment clean. All of this with the goal to make Florida a better place to live and work. God bless the great state of Florida!”
