Bradford deputies arrested a 57-year-old Starke woman after they said she put six dead kittens and a dead rat into a freezer.

Christina Farrington was arrested on seven counts of unlawful disposal of a dead animal, possession of a drug without a prescription, and trespassing.

According to an arrest report, deputies responded to an Orange Street address in Starke regarding a trespass.

The property owner told deputies that the defendant slept in her backyard the previous night without permission.

Farrington told deputies that she was on the property to meet with animal control about kittens that were killed and that she put in a freezer.

“Christina stated to me she placed four kittens that were killed in the freezer until she could bury them,” wrote Deputy Devin K. Jones in the arrest report.

The officer reported that while searching the defendant’s belongings, he found two bottles of gabapentin.

Jones added that two deputies and an animal control officer found six dead kittens and a dead rat wrapped in napkins inside the freezer. The appliance had not had power for two days.
