KHHS is in top 10 in 2 sports with release of state’s 2024 fall academic teams

Keystone Heights High School had five athletic teams included with the release of the Florida High School Athletic Association Fall Academic Champions, with the Indians having two teams earn top-10 honors with their cumulative grade-point average.

Academic Champions are named for each sport in each classification. A team with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on an unweighted scale of 4.0 can be nominated by its athletic director.

Keystone had the seventh highest GPA of 3.173 in Class 2A football and was the third highest public-school team. Clearwater Calvary Christian had the highest GPA of 3.553.

Also finishing ahead of Keystone were Tampa Berkeley Prep, Pinecrest Gulliver Prep, West Palm Beach Kings Academy, Coconut Creek North Broward Prep and Santa Rosa Beach South Walton.

The Indians had the ninth highest GPA of 3.822 in Class 2A girls cross country and had the third highest GPA for a public school. Fort Lauderdale NSU University had the highest GPA of 3.94.

Other teams ahead of Keystone were Merritt Island Edgewood, Winter Park Trinity Prep, Cape Coral Oasis, Montverde Academy, Orlando Lake Highland Prep, Jacksonville Episcopal and Gainesville Eastside.

Keystone finished just outside of the top 10 in Class 3A volleyball, with a GPA of 3.496. That was good for 13th and third highest among public schools.

Berkeley Prep had the highest GPA of 3.885.

The Indians were 30th in Class 1A boys golf with a GPA of 3.335 and 31st in Class 2A boys cross country with a GPA of 3.362.

Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest topped the 1A boys golf teams with a GPA of 3.909, while Berkeley Prep’s GPA of 3.967 was highest in 2A boys cross country.
