Keystone Heights Mayor Nina Rodenroth awarded Barbara Sullivan, a retired teacher and volunteer, a key to the city during the city council meeting on Monday, November 25.
After the mayor read the award citation, a large contingent from Community Church, the recipient’s home congregation, cheered her on.
Rodenroth recognized Sullivan‘s role at the church, including her leadership in the once-a-year school supplies giveaway in which hundreds of children received free shoes, backpacks, hygiene items, and other supplies.
“You were a Clay County school teacher at Keystone Heights Junior-Senior High School from 1972 to 2004, with an additional three years in other places, “the mayor said. “You’ve also worked with the Answers Resource Center, formally located in our city, to help guide young people in the critical moments of life.”
Rodenroth also said Sullivan had volunteered at Lake Area Ministries.
“The key to the city is a symbol of our deepest gratitude for your tireless efforts,” the mayor told Sullivan. “It is a token of our sincere appreciation of your vision, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to the City of Keystone Heights.”
