UCHS boys defeat Hornets twice as part of a 3-0 start

Union County High School, which is off to a 3-0 start in boys basketball, defeated Lafayette for the second time this season, winning 60-39 on Dec. 9 in Mayo.

Jeppson Dang and Gavin Jenkins scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, while Isaiah Folaji and Jamie McGhee each had 10 points. The Tigers also got four points each from Erick Lasseter and R.J. Odom and two points each from Adrian Manns and Jacques McKenzy.

Manns grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds, while Folaji had a team-best five assists.

Jenkins led the team in steals with six.

The Tigers opened the season with a 42-36 home win over Lafayette on Dec. 3, getting 16 points and six rebounds from Dang.

Jenkins added 12 points, while the Tigers also had the following scorers: McGhee with seven, Odom with three and Manns and McKenzy with two each.

McKenzy added six rebounds to his totals, while McGhee had four steals.

In between the wins over Lafayette, Union defeated Hamilton County 65-56 on Dec. 6 in Jasper.

Union hosts Palatka on Friday, Dec. 13, and travels to play Trenton on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Both games have 7:30 p.m. tip-off times.
