The City of Starke said it had assessed nearly $10,000 in fines on a North Cherry Street home and that daily penalties of $150 are still accruing.

Special Magistrate Laura Gapske wrote in an order that Lancaster Investments, Inc., which owns the home at 375 North Cherry Street, has not responded to notices sent by Starke code enforcement officers in September, October, November, and December.

Officers first cited the property in September as a public nuisance and for abandoned personal property.

The magistrate ruled that if the violations are not remedied in 30 days, the daily fine will increase to $250 a day and then to $500 a day after 60 days.
