Deputies arrested a 21-year-old Raiford man for three felonies and a misdemeanor after officers said he destroyed the slushie machine at a Starke Shell station, bit two officers, and kept fighting deputies after being tased up to six times.

Jordan Wade Tucker was arrested for resisting an officer with violence, criminal mischief with property damage, and two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Deputy Devin Jones wrote in an arrest report that Cpl. Jake Whitehead arrived at the U.S. 301 and State Road 100 convenience store to see Tucker destroying a slushie machine.

“Cpl. Whitehead attempted to contact Jordan.,” wrote Jones. “Jordan turned around and ran towards the bathroom where David Nazworth stopped him.”

Whitehead then deployed his taser on the defendant, and Tucker shook off its effects and ran into the parking lot.

“Jordan then got on the tailgate of a pick-up truck and Cpl. Whitehead deployed a second taser cartridge, which was ineffective,” Jones reported.

Deputy Shane Haddock then arrived at the station and joined Whitehead in what quickly became a fight.

Both officers struggled with the defendant, and Haddock tased Tucker, who fell to the ground, got back up, and kept fighting.

“As the struggle continued, D/S Haddock touch-tased the suspect at least two more times, possibly three,” wrote Jones, “which still was unable to acquire compliance from the suspect.”

Tucker then bit Haddock on his left forearm, refusing to let go.

“Finally, after moments of more struggling and compliance strikes, compliance was finally acquired from the suspect,” Jones reported.

Deputy Tyler Oliver wrote in a supplement to the arrest report that he arrived at the station to see his two colleagues struggling with Tucker.

Bradford Sheriff’s Major George Konkel, Jr. (center) speaks to a woman he said is the suspect’s grandmother.

“Upon arrival, I observed Cpl. Whitehead and D/S Haddock actively fighting with the suspect on the ground in the parking lot of the Island Food Store,” he wrote. “I ran over to assist in detaining the suspect. I observed Cpl. Whitehead and D/S Haddock to have control of both the suspect’s upper limbs; therefore, I grabbed both the suspect’s legs and placed them into a figure 4 to prevent the suspect from establishing a base and to keep the suspect from kicking Cpl. Whitehead, D/S Haddock, and I. At this point, the suspect was placed in handcuffs.”

Oliver added that Whitehead was transported to a hospital with bite marks and other symptoms.

A woman whom Bradford Sheriff’s Major George Konkel, Jr. identified as the suspect’s grandmother was seen shouting at deputies after the incident.

“They hit him in the head, and they tased him twice,” the woman shouted as she left the scene.

Konkel said the woman told him her family member has some type of medical condition.
