District hoops tournaments are this week

Bradford, Keystone Heights and Union County high schools will play in district boys and girls basketball tournaments this week, with both Bradford teams earning number-two seeds and the Union boys team earning its district’s third seed.

The Bradford boys team plays in District 3-3A, which also consists of Keystone. The Tornadoes and top seed Newberry will have first-round byes.

Keystone travels to play third seed Palatka in a quarterfinal game on Monday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m. Bradford will host the winner of that game in a semifinal game on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m.

Fourth seed Interlachen and fifth seed Baldwin play each other in a Feb. 3 quarterfinal game, with the winner traveling to play Newberry in a Feb. 5 semifinal game.

The semifinal winners will play for the championship on Friday, Feb. 7, at a time to be determined. The higher seed will host.

Bradford and Keystone are also part of District 3-3A in girls basketball. That tournament begins with fifth seed Keystone traveling to play fourth seed Baldwin in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m.

If Keystone wins, it’ll travel to play top seed Newberry in a semifinal game on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m.

Bradford will host third seed Palatka in the other semifinal game, which will also be played on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.

The two semifinal winners will play for the championship on Saturday, Feb. 8, at a time to be determined. The higher seed will host.

The Union boys team will play in the District 6-Rural tournament, with all games being played at Bell High School. The Tigers will play second seed Trenton in a semifinal game on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 5:30 p.m. Top seed Fort White will play either fourth seed Bell or fifth seed Dixie County in the other semifinal game at 7 p.m.

Bell and Dixie play each other in a quarterfinal game on Monday, Feb. 3.

The championship game is set for Friday, Feb. 7, at a time to be determined.

Union will play in the District 6-Rural girls tournament, which is being hosted by Trenton High School. The Tigers are the fifth seed and will play fourth seed Bell in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. If Union wins, it’ll play top seed Fort White in a semifinal game on Thursday, Feb. 6, at a time to be determined.

Second seed Trenton and third seed Dixie County will play in the other semifinal game.

The championship game will be played Saturday, Feb. 8, at a time to be determined.
