Wester has double-double in 45-37 KHHS win over Hope

Keystone Heights High School got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Brayden Wester in defeating visiting Hope Christian Academy 45-37 in a boys basketball game on Jan. 31.

The Indians, who snapped a 16-game losing streak, got 11 points from Dereon Tochterman, while Zane Leger had nine points. Michael Petty and Cooper Barry added seven and five points, respectively, while Brody Stevens had three.

Leger and Petty each finished with seven rebounds, while Barry and Ty Mitzel each had five. Leger, Petty and Tochterman each had four steals, with Leger also recording four assists.

Hope, which lost its fourth straight game, was led by Walker Munroe’s 18 points and Aiden Wilson’s 10 points. The Lions also got three points from Gunner Loften and two each from Caden Hartzog, Mason Maschiocchi and Griffin McCloud.

Masciocchi and McCloud had six and five rebounds, respectively, with Masciocchi adding four steals and McCloud adding three assists.

It was one of three games played that week by the Indians. On Jan. 28, Keystone hosted Middleburg, losing 68-48.

Petty recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Tochterman scored 13 points. Leger and Stevens each had seven points, while Barry and Colton Hollingsworth added three and two, respectively.

Barry added seven rebounds to his totals, while Tochterman had three assists.

The Indians hosted Ridgeview on Jan. 30, losing 60-37. Leger had 12 points, while Keystone also got nine points from Tochterman, seven from Barry, four from Petty, three from Mitzel and one each from Stevens and Jamari Turner.

Barry grabbed 17 rebounds, while Leger and Luke Bacorn had six and five, respectively.

Keystone got three steals each from Barry and Tochterman.

Hope entered the Keystone game off a 63-42 loss to visiting First Assembly Christian on Jan. 28 and a 58-57 loss at Open Bible on Jan. 30.

Masciocchi and Wilson scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, in the game against First Assembly, while Munroe had 12 points. The Lions also got one point from Hartzog.

The Lions got seven rebounds from Masciocchi and five rebounds and four steals from McCloud. Wilson and Munroe had five and three steals, respectively.

In the loss to Open Bible, Hope got 15 points from Munroe and 13 points from Loften. Wilson and Masciocchi just middle double digits with nine and eight points, respectively.

Hartzog and Munroe each had five rebounds, while Loften had three assists.
