A Keystone Heights High School boys soccer team looking for just its second win in six matches had its season come to an end with a 6-2 loss to host South Walton in a Region 1-3A quarterfinal match on Feb. 11.
The seventh seed Indians (11-7-3) fell behind 2-0, but were able to even the score, with Noah Jaramillo scoring off an Aaron Wiley assist and Wiley scoring off a Sammy Wacha assist.
South Walton (15-3-5), which was the region’s second seed, scored another first-half goal to take a 3-2 lead going into the break. The Seahawks then added three goals in winning their fifth straight match.
The Seahawks host third seed Florida High (13-3-3) in a semifinal match on Friday, Feb. 14.
Keystone, which went 1-3-2 in its final six matches, was making its first regional appearance since 2020.
Wiley finished his senior season with 33 goals, which is the most by any player in Class 3A who’s had his stats uploaded to MaxPreps. Eastside’s Jonas Traktuev finished his season with 31 goals, while Calvary Christian’s Drew Mullins, whose team is still playing, is third with 28 goals.
The Indians’ Luke Brunt, who’s also a senior, recorded 16 assists, which ranked him third in Class 3A. Wiley had the fifth most assists with 13.
