Seven players drove in runs in the Bradford High School softball team’s 16-7 win at North Marion on Feb. 21.
Addyson Hinds, who went 2 for 4 with a double, drove in three runs for the Tornadoes, who evened their record at 1-1.
Bradford had a five-run second to go up 6-2. The Tornadoes loaded the bases, with Kallie Yowell hitting a single in between walks drawn by Tayrn Flowers and Kellsie Cochran. A bunt single by Regan Adams scored one run, while another scored when Keegan Yowell drew a bases-loaded walk. Amber Wynn hit an RBI single, while Keegan Yowell and Wynn (after Adams was caught stealing home) scored on a wild pitch.
The Tornadoes had another big inning, scoring six runs in the fourth. Hinds hit a double that scored Keegan Yowell and Wynn, who both walked. A Summer Sutton ground out scored a run and put Bradford ahead 9-2. Flowers walked, while Kallie Yowell was hit by a pitch. Cochran and Adams both reached on errors, with a run scoring on the ball put into play by Cochran. Kallie Yowell and Cochran both scored on passed ball to make it a 12-2 game.
Kingslee Phillips had two RBI, while the following each had one: Adams, Sutton, Wynn, Kallie Yowell and Keegan Yowell.
Wynn and Kallie Yowell went 2 for 2 and 2 for 3, respectively.
Kolee Lemire pitched a complete game, giving up four earned runs and four hits, while striking out seven.
Bradford entered the game off a season-opening 10-6 loss to visiting Clay on Feb. 18.
The Tornadoes trailed 10-2 before scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs and no one on, Sutton and Hinds each singled, with a Kallie Yowell double scoring one run. Flowers and Cochran reached on errors, which allowed three runs to score.
Sutton and Kallie Yowell each went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Yowell hit two doubles.
The Tornadoes host Bishop Snyder on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 6:30 p.m. and then host P.K. Yonge on Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, March 4, Bradford hosts Newberry at 6:30 p.m.
