KHHS defeats BHS for 3rd win in girls tennis

Keystone Heights High School improved to 3-3 in girls tennis with a 7-0 win at Bradford on Feb. 18.

Addison Smith and Alli Tisdale took 9-7 and 8-6 wins, respectively, at the number-one and number-two slots, while Kaiya Thompson won 8-4 at the number-three spot.

Evie Hallberg and Avrylle Wilson won 8-1 and 8-0, respectively.

In doubles, the team of Maria Papaioannou and Rachel Blank won 8-4, while Kherrington Norman and Aryiah Wilson teamed up for an 8-3 win.

It was one of two wins for the Indians over Bradford this season, with Keystone coming out on top of the Tornadoes 7-0 at home on Feb. 11.

Whitnee Buchanan won 8-0 at the top singles spot, followed by Smith winning 8-3, Thompson winning 9-7, Norman winning 8-2 and Aleah Hallberg winning 8-6.

Tisdale and Evie Hallberg won 8-2 in doubles, while the team of Papaioannou and Blank won 8-3.

Keystone defeated visiting Union County 6-1 on Feb. 10 for its first win of the season, with the Indians coming out on top of all of the singles matches, with Buchanan winning 8-0, Smith winning 8-3, Tisdale winning 8-2, Evie Hallberg winning 8-6 and Thompson winning 8-0.

The Indians’ number-two doubles team of Bralee-Kate Chester and Emery Compton won 8-3.

Keystone hosts Ridgeview on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. and will travel to play Santa Fe on Tuesday, March 4, at 4 p.m.
