Not just very good — Very Berry good

This year’s Bradford 4-H Very Berry Bake-Off, which was held Feb. 28, resulted in Rylee Dixon placing first in the senior division with chocolate-covered strawberries, Sophie Elkins placing first in the intermediate division with a strawberry cake and Shawn Ward placing first in the junior division with a strawberry swirl poundcake. Dixon also earned second place in the senior division for a strawberry cake with chocolate ganache and strawberries, while the intermediate division also included Nicholas Ward’s second-place strawberry charlotte and Avery Wulff-Vanderpuije’s third-place berry-mallow chocolate-chip surprise cookies. Three children ages 5-7 earned green participation ribbons as Cloverbuds: Kingsley Best with every bunnies favorite pancakes, Paisley Leese with strawberry cake cookies and Noah Morris with stuffed-crust strawberry pie.
