Daniel Banda, Brian Cliffin and Bryce Daniels won their weight classes and helped Bradford High School finish second as a team at the Football Weightlifting Conference meet at Union County High School on March 14.
The Tornadoes had 42 points, which left them trailing only Union, which had 54 points. Bell and Chiefland had 36 and 28 points, respectively.
Banda took first in the 154-pound class with a 440-pound total (265 bench press, 175 power clean), while Brian Cliffin won the 219 class with a 545 total (290, 255). Daniels had a 620 total (365, 255) to place first in the heavyweight class.
Jy’Quez Cason was runner-up to his teammate Cliffin in the 219 class, finishing with a 480 total (275, 205).
Two other Bradford lifters placed second: Jackson Parmeter with a 440 total (215, 225) in the 169 class and Cayden Carter with a 545 total (295, 25) in the 199 class.
Jeremiah McKenzie was third in the 199 class with a 505 total (260, 245), while Jacob Ferguson was third in the heavyweight class with a 530 total (285, 245).
Maliki Cobarris and Jordan Cason earned fourth-place finishes. Cobarris had a 230 total (135, 95) in the 129 class, while Cason had a 385 total (205, 180) in the 169 class.
Earning fifth-place finishes were Brayden Smyth with a 390 total (215, 175) in the 154 class and Tyler Schaeffer with a 435 total (255, 180) in the 183 class.
