A 45-year-old Keystone Heights woman was sentenced to five years with the Department of Corrections after pleading to attacking her landlord while receiving an eviction notice.

Jammie Louann Lemaire pleaded to aggravated battery on a victim 65 years or older on March 12.

According to a July 11, 2024, arrest report, two witnesses employed by the victim told deputies that they saw the 70-year-old landlord hand a 3-day notice to vacate a rental home to the defendant’s husband, and the defendant responded by hitting the landlord repeatedly in the face.

The female property owner was able to break free to the front porch of the residence near the Keystone Heights RV Resort, where Lemaire attacked her again after pulling her back inside the house.

A healthcare provider at HCA Starke ER told a deputy that the victim may have suffered broken facial bones.

Both Lemaire and her husband claimed the landlord hit the defendant first. The defendant added that the two witnesses, hired by the landlord to clean the home, were not at the property at the time of the incident.
