On Saturday, March 30, the Friends of Keystone Heights continued its yearlong celebration of the city’s 100th anniversary with a Spring Fling at the Keystone Heights Airport.

The Keystone Heights Rotary Club also produced a car show at the airport simultaneously with the centennial celebration. Fifty-three car owners participated in the show.

Also, on Saturday, across Airport Road from the Spring Fling and car show, the Ocala chapter of the International Aerobatics Club completed the third and final day of its Snowbird Classic Aerobatics competition.

The Spring Fling featured music, food trucks, and vendors.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Fantastic Fire Brigade also participated.

Rotary Club President Todd Beals thanked the Friends of Keystone Heights for allowing his group to join the centennial event.

“We had a great time coordinating our first car show ever,” he said.  “We felt it was a great success, having 53 cars in the event. The funds we raise go back into our community and will be contributed towards two $1,000 scholarships for our graduating students.”

Beals added that the club hoped the car show would return annually.

Ginger Lee, president of the Friends of Keystone Heights, credited her group’s volunteers for the event’s success.
