Clark Hill (the stage name for Starke’s Jimmie Clark) has stepped back into the spotlight with his new single, “On the Radio,” which debuted May 23 and can be heard via streaming services.
The song can also be accessed via YouTube. Search for “Clark Hill Music” and click on his official channel.
Hill had been busy, playing more than 500 shows in 14 countries and sharing stages with such artists as Trace Adkins, Cody Johnson and Chris Young. However, after the release of Top 100 single “Perfect to Me” in 2018, life created a plot twist. Single-father duties in the aftermath of a divorce and the covid pandemic forced him to hit pause on his music career.
Now, he’s back with a single that’s equal parts dance-floor jam and diary entry storytelling.
“I’ve always been a storyteller, but I wanted something people could feel and dance to. ‘On The Radio’ is that,” Hill said. “It’s pieces of who I am, how I grew up and what made me fall in love with country music in the first place.”
The song was co-written with Jody Bartula, Cody Johnson’s longtime bandleader and frontman for The Bar Flies. “On the Radio” pairs Hill’s signature “country with a twist” with Bartula’s old-school chops and multi-instrumental magic. The result? A song that makes you nostalgic and makes you want to roll the windows down and crank it up.
Hill has written more songs in the past two years than ever before. “On the Radio” is planned as the first of many songs by Hill to be released this year.
