On Saturday, May 24, Pangborn’s grand opening took place, attracting many people eager to try out the new ice cream shop in Keystone Heights.

There are various ice cream flavors, including non-dairy and sugar-free options and banana splits, shakes, brownies, cones, and more.

Owner Keight Hatch said the Pangborns lived in the Keystone Heights Inn soon after the city was founded.  During this time, they worked alongside the Lawrence family and were influential in developing the original City of Keystone Heights.

“While helping to establish the City, they built a business and contributed to the people of Keystone Heights,” said Hatch. “Mr. Pangborn served as a fireman and basketball coach at Keystone Heights High School. To honor one of the founding families of Keystone Heights, we established an ice cream parlor in the house they built, bearing their family name, Pangborn Ice Cream, and implemented the Community Scoop program.”

The Community Scoop program gives back 5% of the gross sales right to the heart of our community.

Just like the Pangborns envisioned, Hatch and his wife Patricia are on a mission to uplift the city and enrich the lives of its residents.

“Our motto is,” Hatch said, “At Pangborn Ice Cream, every scoop helps the Community.”
