Alfonso Espinoza

Alfonso “Cruz” Espinoza, 22, of St. Augustine died in a motorcycle accident Saturday, June 7, 2025.

He is survived by parents, Angela Provencio and Hector Espinoza; siblings, Trey, Talise, and Antonio; and extended family.

The Rosary will be 6 p.m. Friday, June 20, at DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Starke, with visitation following from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, June 21 at 12 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Keystone Heights Cemetery. A reception will follow at The Barn at Lakeside Ranch in Hawthorne.

Maranda Plym

Maranda Plym

Mrs. Maranda Nichole Plym, 33, of Keystone Heights passed away unexpectedly at her home Monday, June 9, 2025. She was born in Orange Park March 10, 1992, and graduated from Keystone Heights High School in 2010, where she was active in sports, playing softball and volleyball. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed animals, but mostly she loved being a mom and was known as the world’s best soccer mom. She leaves behind her husband of 8.5 years, Marty Plym; and their children, Rylynn Kaye Plym (8) and Harper Jean Plym (4); her parents, Bruce and Shelley (Baird) Gibbs; and siblings, Morgan S. (Gibbs) (Jeff) Reid, Heather Gibbs Weaver (Guy Gautreaux) and Joshua A. (Katie) Gibbs. Also left behind are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation was held Monday, June 16, at Trinity Baptist Church. Funeral services followed with Pastor James Peoples and Pastor Scott Stanland officiating. Interment followed at Keystone Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your local humane society.

Adel Starling

Mrs. Edna Adel Starling, 88, of Starke passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, at her home. She was born March 8, 1937, in Lawtey to the late Maxie and Lois (Sarling) Tanner. She was a retired sergeant from the Florida Prison System. She made many friends over the years and will be missed dearly.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, with Pastor Steve Conner officiating. Interment will be at Long Branch Cemetery.

Michael Tew Sr.

Michael Tew Sr.

Michael “Mike” Steven Tew Sr., 73, of Lawtey passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Jacksonville on Aug. 22, 1951, and raised by his loving parents, Shirley Joiner Gaskins and James “Jimmy” Gaskins. He resided in Jacksonville with his family until they relocated to Bradford County in 1960. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1970, and shortly after proudly served our county in the United States Army. Upon completing his service, he spent the next 22 years as a professional truck driver.  When he wasn’t working on the road, he found the most joy and purpose when tending to his family farm with his father.  Together they plowed the fields, raised cattle and poultry, and cared for their strawberry fields. Mike was also an animal lover. He had a passion for horses as well as breeding and raising Treyline Southern Bred Swamp Curr dogs, a proven guard dog. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.  He was preceded in death by his mother; and sons, Michael Tew Jr. and Trey Tew.

He is survived by his father, James “Jimmy” Gaskins of Starke; children, Emily DeWitt of Starke, Ginger (Matt) Jacob of Winter Garden and Jeremy (Melissa) Brown of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sisters, Diane (Kent) Graudons of Starke and Jacque (Rick) Bailey of Ohio; grandchildren, Zachary (Kelsie) DeWitt, Brayden Jacob, Lane Brown, and Justin Brown; great- grandchildren, Decklyn DeWitt and Holdyn Dukes, along with a great-grandson on the way; companion, Sandy Ellis of Lawtey; and several extended family members and friends.

A memorial gathering in honor of his life was Thursday, June 12, at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel.
