Thompson announces run for clerk’s office

The following is an announcement of intention to seek public office paid for by the candidate.

I am happy to announce my candidacy for City Clerk of Starke.  A lifelong resident of Starke, I am deeply rooted in the heart of the community that I proudly call home.   I have been loyal to the City of Starke

Chrissy Thompson

and our community for many years.

I started my political career in 1998 when I was elected City Commissioner.  I served in this role for four years. I understand how local government works, but more importantly, how it should work for the people of Starke.

I have a background in nursing and deep roots and unwavering dedication to Starke. I am a wife to Ricky Thompson, who had 38 years of dedication to the City of Starke.  I am also a mother to three children and a Meme to six grandchildren.

Known for my leadership and entrepreneurial spirit in the community, I own and operate The Downtown Grill, a local restaurant where neighbors gather, stories are shared and community connections are strengthened.

I serve on many boards, including Communities for Schools, Education Foundation, ARC of Bradford County, Downtown Merchants and Chamber of Commerce.  I am passionate about giving back and host many community and charitable events at my restaurant.

MY GOALS:

1. Enhance transparency and efficiency in City operations.

2. Bring unity to all aspects of the City and other entities.

3. Represent Starke with integrity and compassion.

4. Provide exceptional public service.

5. Protect what matters most in the City of Starke – our city’s history and future.

I am deeply motivated by helping others — from volunteering at local events to supporting community-driven projects.  Outside of my professional life, I love to travel and bring a global perspective back home.  I value my friends just as much as my family.  Their support, honesty, and opinions mean the world to me, and I trust their insight in both my personal life and public service.  But above all, I cherish spending quality time with my family and friends.  Of all the titles I have held, being called “Meme” is my favorite title of all.

This town raised me, supported me, and now I want to give back in a way that truly matters.  The role of City Clerk is not just about keeping records, it’s about keeping the public informed, making sure local government stays accountable and servicing with integrity every single day.  I’m not a politician.  I’m a public servant.  I’m not running for power — I’m running to make sure the people of Starke are heard, respected and served with care.

In closing, I am running for City Clerk to ensure that Starke’s records are managed with care, the public stays informed, and every voice has a place in city government.  I am not accepting donations for my campaign.  Instead, I humbly ask for your prayers, support and your vote on August 19, 2025!  I ask you to join me in building a better, stronger Starke — together!
