Recent arrests in Bradford, Union and Clay

The following individuals were arrested recently by local law enforcement officers in Bradford, Union or Clay (Keystone Heights-area) counties. All defendants are considered innocent until convicted in a court or until pleading guilty or no contest. Information in this report is from law enforcement agencies and court documents, which are public records.

Bradford

Tyrell Banks, 34, of Orlando, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 20 for lewd and lascivious behavior.

101 mph on motorcycle

Naketa Barnes, 34, of Palm Bay, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 19 for resisting an officer, driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of drugs, possession of drug equipment, and reckless driving.

According to an arrest report, Deputy T. Lovell saw a southbound green motorcycle passing cars at a high rate of speed on U.S. 301 north of the bypass. The deputy clocked the two-wheeler at 101 mph in a 65-mph zone.

“I made a U-turn in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop, at which point the motorcycle accelerated at a high rate of speed, continuing south,” the officer wrote. “I notified Trooper Palmer with the Florida Highway Patrol of the situation. Trooper Palmer was in front of the motorcycle.”

Lovell added that when Barnes tried to pass the trooper, Palmer stopped the motorcycle.

Lovell added that as he approached the bike, he saw a plastic baggie inside the rider’s helmet near her mouth. The substance inside the plastic tested positive for methamphetamine.

A check with dispatch revealed the driver did not possess a valid license.

“I asked Naketa why she ran, and she advised ‘she was scared,’” reported Lovell. “I inquired about the methamphetamine and Naketa advised she has been addicted for ten years.”

Text message: ‘You will die.’

Matthew Barnhardt, 37, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 19 for intimidation.

According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies she received several threatening text messages from her ex-boyfriend and the father of her children.

She showed deputies multiple threatening messages, including one that read “You will die.”

Deputy David Hall wrote in the report that when he interviewed the defendant, “Matthew stated he would never cause harm to (the victim) but agreed that the text messages would lead a reasonable person to believe he wanted to cause severe harm to them.”

A’niyah Carroll, 21, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 19 for a probation violation.

Sharon Fussel, 60, of Brooker, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 17 for possession of drug equipment and possession of drugs.

Jena Gentry, 39, of Keystone Heights, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 18 for an out-of-county warrant.

Thomas Golsner, 30, of Gainesville, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 15 for DUI and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Steven Hall, 63, of Starke, was arrested by Lawtey police on June 18 for driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of drug equipment, and possession of drugs.

Tabitha Hopkins, 46, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 19 for a probation violation.

Thomas Igoe, 21, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 17 for battery.

Devonte Jackson, 31, of Jacksonville, was arrested by Lawtey police on June 20 for driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of drug equipment, and possession of drugs.

Antwan Johnson, 35, of Gainesville, was arrested by Lawtey police on June 18 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Meth found during speeding stop

Marie Meating Pendergrass, 61, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 17 for possession of drugs. According to a sworn complaint, deputies stopped the defendant’s Jeep on May 8 in the area of Starke’s Brownlee and Clark Streets for going 40 mph in a 30-mph zone. After gaining consent to search the vehicle, officers found a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue within the 61-year-old’s purse. On June 19, the defendant pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and was sentenced to 18 months’ drug offender probation.

Randsom Norman, 24, of Lawtey, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 17 for possession of drugs, selling drugs, and possession of drug equipment.

Lori Reid, 53, of Brooker, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 16 for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Donald Stewart, 62, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 19 for failure to appear.

Donald Stokes, 48, of Daytona, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 20 for failure to appear.

Hit woman with frozen chicken

Steven Thornton, 53, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 14 for battery.

According to an arrest report, after arriving on scene, deputies observed that both the victim and the defendant were intoxicated. According to the victim, the pair got into an argument, with Thornton following the victim into a bedroom where he sat on top of her and grabbed her hands, causing injuries.

“(The victim) was able to get Steven off, at which time they entered the living room area,” wrote Deputy Paul King in the report.  “Steven removed a bag of frozen chicken from the deep freezer in the living room and hit (the victim) in the upper lip.”

King added that the defendant denied striking the woman and claimed that she attacked him.

Trespassing victim arrested for probation violation

Regina Tisdale, 50, of Lawtey, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 16 for a probation violation.

According to an arrest report, the defendant called 911 after a man knocked on her door holding a brick.  After arresting Terriano Tisdale for trespassing on the woman’s property, deputies discovered she had an outstanding warrant and took her into custody.

Terriano Tisdale, 35, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 17 for trespassing.

According to an arrest report, a Lawtey woman reported that a man was at her front door, knocking and ringing the doorbell.

“(The victim) advised that Terriano had a brick in his hand, and she was concerned that he might try to break the window,” wrote Deputy K. Mozingo in the report.

Lawtey police later located the defendant on the corner of Lake Street and First Street.

While being arrested, Tisdale protested that he didn’t do any harm to the property and was just knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell in order to speak with his family.

Randy Williams, 67, of Starke, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 20 for trespassing.

Tyler Zakowski, 33, of Jacksonville, was arrested by Bradford deputies on June 14 for possession of marijuana

Union

Cleaning lady accused of theft

Samantha Dover, 26, of Lake City, was arrested by Union deputies on June 17 for grand theft.

According to an April 8 complaint, the owner of a cleaning service met Deputy Charles Townsend about Dover, her employee, possibly stealing jewelry from a customer.

Townsend consulted an online database and discovered the defendant had four transactions at a Lake City pawn shop from January through March. Another woman, who had the same address as the defendant, had four additional transactions between March and April.

Two of the rings pawned by the roommate matched the descriptions of the missing jewelry.

According to Townsend, further investigation revealed that on six occasions, when a customer realized jewelry was missing, the defendant or the roommate pawned jewelry at the Lake City pawn shop the following day.

Townsend located additional victims, who then filed theft reports with the sheriff’s office.

The deputy obtained photographs of the pawned merchandise, and the victims identified the jewelry as their property.

Michael Findley, 45, of Lake Butler, was arrested by Union deputies on June 17 for an out-of-county warrant.

Jeffrey Garven, 43, of Summerfield, was arrested by Union deputies on June 24 for an out-of-county warrant.

Jason Keenan, 43, of Lake Butler, was arrested by Union deputies on June 18 for lewd and lascivious behavior.

Text: ’We both know I can break you in half’

Thomas Lindboe, 42, of Lake Butler, was arrested by Union deputies on June 16 for intimidation.

According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies that Lindboe had grown increasingly frustrated by her refusal to meet with him at a Worthington Springs convenience store for a child custody visit.

“(The victim) advised that she had been meeting Thomas at the designated Safe Custody Exchange location at the sheriff’s office, but Thomas did not like going there,” wrote Deputy Samuel Murphy in the report. “As Thomas continued to message her, his messages became more hostile in nature. He began to make statements like, ‘We both know I can break you in half with one hand with very little effort’”.

After one exchange in which the defendant became angry over the victim not having the child call Lindboe, the defendant messaged, “I’ve already been to jail once over her, I’ll gladly go again if you aren’t at the store at 6.”

Doris Rewis, 50, of Raiford, was arrested by Union deputies on June 17 for a probation violation.

Dylan Shuler, 33, of Lake Butler, was arrested by Union deputies on June 17 for a probation violation.

Ronda Stringer, 57, of Jacksonville, was arrested by Union deputies on June 20 for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug equipment.

Clay

Wrestled over iPhone

Jacob Duncan, 21, of Keystone Heights, was arrested by Clay deputies on June 14 for domestic battery.

According to an arrest report, the victim told deputies that her boyfriend of four years was intoxicated and began an argument with her.

“The victim stated (that) as the argument escalated, she took a bottle of liquor, which she believed the defendant had been consuming, and poured it out,” wrote Deputy B.A. Jones in the report. “She said this enraged the defendant, so she retrieved her iPhone to attempt to record the argument, fearing the defendant would become violent.”

The victim added that Duncan tried to snatch the phone from her hands, and the two wrestled over the device.

“While trying to regain control of the phone,” Jones wrote, “the defendant shoved her in the chest with his hand, causing her to fall backward. The victim said the defendant then took her phone and smashed it on the ground.”

Duncan then left the home in the area of Little Rain Lake Road.

The officer reported severe damage to the phone, adding that it was nonfunctional.

While Jones was investigating the incident, another deputy saw the defendant’s vehicle traveling on State Road 21. The officer conducted a traffic stop. Jones relocated to the traffic stop and arrested Duncan.

Meth concealed in flashlight

Jonathan Letchworth, 73, of Starke, was arrested by Clay deputies on June 16 for trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment.

According to an arrest report, a Clay County deputy reported that just before midnight, he was traveling on State Road 16 in the area of Camp Blanding.

“(The officer) observed a gold in color Chevrolet pickup truck… (The officer) observed the front seat driver not wearing a safety belt, as well as the vehicle traveling with its high beams activated.”

The deputy performed a traffic stop, and a dog later alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the Chevrolet.

“D/S McCrea conducted a meticulous search of the vehicle which, revealed the following… located a small plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance that resembled methamphetamine in the driver’s side door panel pocket,” wrote the reporting officer. “(A deputy) located a blue in color flashlight on the driver’s side, contained inside of the exterior toolbox. opened the flashlight and revealed a larger baggie of a crystal-like substance that resembled methamphetamine.”

The 2.3 grams found in the door panel and the 23 grams recovered from the flashlight tested positive for methamphetamine.

Struggled over defendant’s diary

Jennifer Streetz, 43, of Keystone Heights, was arrested by Clay deputies on June 15 for domestic battery.

According to an arrest report, the victim and defendant said they were on the front porch of a Shilah Avenue home, arguing and struggling over the defendant’s diary.

Deputy Matthew Johns wrote that he reviewed video of the encounter.

“The video shows both parties on the front porch, with the defendant on the victim’s back,” wrote the officer. “Both are screaming frantically while struggling over possession of the defendant’s diary. The victim is heard saying, ‘Let me go,’ while the defendant responds, ‘You give me my property back.’ The video shows the defendant falling to the ground and pulling the victim down with her, causing him to fall on top of her. While on the ground, the victim is heard saying, ‘I’ve been assaulted.’”

The deputy added that based on the totality of circumstances, including statements and video footage, probable cause was established for domestic battery.

John Williams, 53, of Keystone Heights, was arrested by Clay deputies on June 19 for indecent exposure.
